Two legendary cattlemen will be honored for their lasting contributions to the cattle industry with their induction into the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Jan. 31.
Tom Jones of Hy-Plains Feedyard LLC, Montezuma, Kan., and Norman Timmerman of N.A. Timmerman Inc., Indianola, Neb., will be honored during the 2022 Cattle Industry Convention and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Trade Show in Houston.
Jones is well-known in the cattle feeding industry for his innovation and drive to improve the business through research and education. In 2017, the company opened the Hy-Plains Education and Research Center, a facility dedicated to studying cattle feeding methodology and collecting data to improve performance. He is known to collaborate with industry and university researchers on various projects, with wide-ranging applications to the overall beef chain.
Timmerman grew up learning the cattle business from his father, Leo Timmerman, who was himself inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. The elder Timmerman was an early innovator in the cattle feeding industry. In 2019, the Norman Timmerman family received the Feedyard Commitment to Excellence Award from the Certified Angus Beef brand. Today, N.A. Timmerman Inc. operates feedyards in Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas.
Also being recognized at the banquet will be William J. Pullen with Bill’s Volume Sales, who will receive the Industry Leadership Award, and Dave Mestl with N.A. Timmerman Inc., who will receive the Arturo Armendariz Distinguished Service Award.
The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame was established in 2009 to honor the exceptional, visionary men and women who have made lasting contributions to the cattle-feeding industry.
